ANSWERS
Trouble logging in to the e-learning site or opening a course window.
The most common source of log in problems is forgetting the user name and
password, or not typing it correctly, as in not inputting it in a case-sensitive
manner.
Our e-learning site only works with Internet Explorer 5 or above.
The most common cause of difficulties after that point is firewall or
security settings on the learner's computer. You need to check that your browser
does not block Java scripts and that your firewall considers this to be a safe
site. You may need to set our site as a trusted site.
You may need to disable
anti-pop up software, which may be found in various programs such as Norton
Internet Security. Your version of Internet Explorer may have a pop up blocker.
In fact, it is the default setting in recent upgrades. Look for it under Tools, Internet
Options, Privacy.
Accessing the course from behind a corporate firewall is another problem. You
may need to take the course from home.
Trouble activating the CD-ROM
We have an unlock system with our CDs to prevent piracy. We realize this is a
minimal inconvenience. Part of the information is crucial--the serial number on
the label on the inside of the CD box or book, the name of your program, and the
8 character ID code you see once the program is installed. The other information
helps register you, helps us contact you if necessary, and may give us a hint as
to the nature of the problem if troubleshooting is required.
The most common source of activation problems is not typing in the user name and
unlock code in a case-sensitive manner, and with the user name exactly the same as you
gave it to us. It is case-sensitive. And make sure you have not included extra
spaces, because the spaces form part of the code.
The next thing to check is that you have installed it on a computer with the
correct operating system--basically, any non-NT Windows.
If you notice that each time you check it, the 8 character ID code changes,
there are two steps you should take: 1) Send us the code and don't turn off the
computer until you have unlocked the program with the unlock code for that
particular state of your computer, since it will usually change only upon
restarting. (2) Check your computer thoroughly. This can be a sign of
instability in your hardware or operating system.
We are human, and it has occurred that manufacturing has placed the wrong label
on a CD and the customer has received the wrong CD. You can tell this if the
title of the program you think you bought does not match the title on the blue
title bar at the very top when the program is running. Let us know and we will
replace.
If you are trying to install the CD on a Windows computer attached to a
corporate network, one source of problems is that the administrator may have
made it impossible for you to install your own software. There are two possible
solutions: 1) Use it at home. (2) Copy the titleofyourprogram.exe file from the
CD to your hard drive. Double click it to start.
The same procedure is a work-around for Windows Vista. As of this date, most of
our installation programs do not work on Windows Vista, but our programs still
do work. So by following step (2) above, you can install the training program
without the official installation program.
If all else fails, we will offer you access to the same course on the e-learning
site.
In our 5 user series, the first 10 of some of the initial runs
accidentally used a test file for the utility that allows one to keep track of
the names of the 5 users. Instead of a blank for a name, there is a "qqqq"
entry. This should not affect the usability of the CD in any way, and if you
need to keep track of User 1, just write down the name of User 1 somewhere.
The CD-ROM course text is cut off by the edges of the
program window.
This can occur when your fonts are set to large. To fix this, right click on an
empty area of your desktop and choose Properties. Then go to Appearance. Font
size should be set to Normal. Then click OK. If that does not work, in the same
dialogue box, on the tab Settings, try to adjust your screen size settings.
Printing certificates
Printing certificates from our CD ROMs is easy. Just press P on the certificate
page that appears after successful final exam completion. Occasionally, a CD or
a computer may
not allow the pressing of P to work. You should then open Word or a graphics
program, make the certificate window the active one, press Alt+Print Screen to
copy the certificate, and then paste it into your program with Ctrl+V. You may
then print it.
You may use the same procedure for courses on our website.
Getting
a message on the CD that Internet Explorer can't download a file.
This is an irrelevant message that sometimes occurs when the user accidentally
double clicks a link or opens and closes programs very quickly. Just close the
window with that message and continue.
What
if I want to use the CD I bought for many people at my company?
This is prohibited by the license. Contact sales@uohc.com
and we can make you a discounted custom CD that will run on one computer and
allow multiple users and multiple test results. We have multiuser CDs already
available for some of our courses. See www.atlasbooks.com/uohc
for the latest inventory.
Which courses come with nursing contact hours credit?
This list is constantly growing. In addition, we may certify certain courses
upon request by a large organization. In some courses, the credit comes with the
course. In others, the credit test is separate from the course and may be
purchased on the e-learning site for a small fee. The credit test may only be
taken if you have purchased and taken the course itself.

You may find it easier to buy the courses with the CE
included in the course--that is an online option. If you buy a CD, in most
cases, you will have to buy the online test after finishing the CD. Some CD
courses, such as Medication Errors, Basic Critical Care, and End of Life Care
include CE in the CD.
